About Our Founder

"Redhead Revivals" is a unique and personal fashion brand created by Gena Reeves, who passionately revives vintage textiles into modern fashion pieces. Gena's love for fashion and creativity started at a young age when she began sewing and repurposing items with her Aunt Marie.

“My first memory of creating an item of clothing was with my Aunt Marie. We took a pillowcase and made it into a little top for me to wear. I was so proud of that little top and couldn’t wait to wear it. That was probably the beginning of my love of sewing and thinking of ways to repurpose something I already had. I grew up in a very small town in Illinois. There weren’t fabric stores nearby. So, we had to be creative!”

Gena's dedication to using vintage textiles, some of which are over 75 years old, is evident in the creation of one-of-a-kind fashion pieces. Many of these textiles come with imperfections, such as stains or frayed edges, which Gena embraces as part of their unique charm and history. Each piece carries with it the stories of the families that once owned them, with memories of meals, conversations, and laughter shared around the table.

Caring for Your One-of-a-Kind Piece of American History:

“First of all, I recommend purchasing the book “Laundry Love” by Patric Richardson! It will teach you everything you never knew about caring for your clothes and it’s so beautifully written!”

“Unless you have spilled on it, have been somewhere smokey or ran a marathon in it and got it stinky and sweaty, just give it a shake and hang it back up after you wear it!”

“If you feel like it needs washed, use the quick cycle on your washing machine and warm water. Remember, these are tablecloths! They were meant to be used and washed! If you have a stain, spot treat!”

“Then take it out of the washing machine, shake it out and toss it in the dryer for 5-10 min. Take it out, shake it, smooth it and hang it up to dry! If you accidentally dry it all the way, it won’t hurt anything. It will probably just be wrinkled.”

“I’m not big on ironing, but if something needs it, I use my little handheld steamer to get the wrinkles out.”

“And there you have it! Don’t stress about laundering your new top! Wear it, love it, enjoy it!”

All textiles are pre-washed-

Some stains are incorporated into the design, while others are concealed with embroidery, adding to the uniqueness of each piece. Original hems from the vintage textiles are often kept, adding a touch of authenticity. Loose threads in lace and embroidered pieces are seen as signs of love and wear.
